4/15/2019 Grinding Week

hey guys hows everyone doing? hope you all had an awesome week. 

so nothing to special happened this week kinda just the normal grind of contacting all day haha.

but we finally saw some miracles this week.

So first of all this lottery girl that we met she always hooks us up with candy and references cause we help her with her english, she is super cool. so this week she gave us the address of her sister to go talk to so we went and found her house and inside was nuts i felt like i was back in the states ive been so used to just a concrete box for houses but this girl was loaded it was crazy. but we ended up teaching her the plan of salvacion and it was an awesome lesson she lost her husband five years ago  and was living with her two kids. we were able to testify that we can see our families again and that this life is not all there is and she accepted it really well so i hoping we can keep teaching her.

Other miracle we found was a familia we found contacting at like 10 at night which means nobody is home and nobody wants to talk to us but we said we were gonna work anyways to show god we want to be obedient and work hard. and we were blessed for it we kocked on a very humble house and found the familia of gabriel benjamin kevin gabriel 2.0 and natalia. they are a super cool family and their youngest boy benjamin has a lot of help problems and he has to sleep sitting in a chair so they have a lot of challenges in life but said when they read the book of mormon as a family they felt closer together and were able to see many mini blessings. im crazy excited to keep teaching these guys i love it when a whole family has the chance to accept the gospel together so ill keep the updates on them.

We had a zone conference this week so i got to meet a couple more missionaries so thats always fun also met a 6'5 250 kid who was just playing tight end at byu he is new in the mish. but also got to hang with some old friends from the ccm.

it was my comps birthday this week so we did nothing special hahaha the life on the mish the birthday is just one other day to grind so not super exciting but we got ice cream that night so woot woot.

Thats kinda all that hapened this week sorry not to eventfull haha but it was a good week for me i felt the spirit a lot and i can see day by day my love for teaching is growing its the best thing in the world to be able to testify of this gospel so often everyday and i encourage everyone of you to do the same it doesnt require starting with id like to bear my testimony and end with in the name of jesus christ but just try to share little truths that have blessed your lives in any way and keep being amazing examples.

6 Months 18 to go 4/9/2019

alright so this week i finessed and the mission time didnt change to 18 months but i was right about coffee so a win and a loss.

 but seriously conference was one of the best things ever for me it was so amazing to watch all the other times i watched conference i kinda just listened and then never took the advice and actually applyed it to my life but this last conference as a missionary and i was glued to the screen i loved every second there were so many amazing talks with so much council one of my favorite talks was given by becky craven in the saturday morning session it was so good to me she gave a big cane drop and called us all to repentence but really we need it. we have all become a little slacked on the basic things we need to follow in the church. this conference had a glaring theme and it was the gospel of jesus christ the basics. first faith in jesus christ, repentence, baptism, and endure to the end. we need to study these basics things and follow them everyday and get better and better everyday. i encourage everyone to go over these talks as much as you guys can there is so much wisdom and in case you didnt hear from pres. nelson we dont have much more time.

This week i was studying wordly happiness vs the gospel happiness  was wondering a lot about why sometimes people outside of the gospel experience a lot more happiness than we sometimes do. then i was reading in 3 nephi 27 11 which says 11 But if it be not built upon my gospel, and is built upon the works of men, or upon the works of the devil, verily I say unto you they have joy in their works for a season, and by and by the end cometh, and they are hewn down and cast into the fire, from whence there is no return.   

so that is super cleary stated that yes through our own power as men we can provide happiness for ourselves for a season but it will never last unless we are built upon the gospel of jesus christ he is the only way to find true and lasting happiness. so that was my studies for this week hope you enjoy.

not to much else happened this week still just grinding and finding some souls to save through this amazing gospel. i testify we have a true and living prophet who litterally recieves revelation for all of us. i know this is church is true and love this gospel more than anything.

No time 4/3/2019

hey guys sorry super short email this week i have been doing well here in rio segundo already have gotten sick once but still grinding the people seem to be a little bit more stubborn here so thats super hard but there is always someone prepared for the gospel and im excited to see what happens here.

super stoked for conference this week cant wait to see what changes happen and what changes do not happen. also i would like to silence a rumor from good old utah, coffee in my opinion cannot be removed from the word of wisdom it is a substance that has side effects on the body and is addictive which takes away our agency haha so that one isnt coming true sorry guys.

3/26/2019 Transfers

Hey everybody hope you guys all had an awesome week.

so this week i got transfered to rio segundo haha the names of cities kill me here like second river haha just kinda funny. its another tiny pueblo like my last area but has a little bit more of a reputation preceding it.

This area has been know to be harder so it looks like my mission might have a pattern of hard areas. but ni importe we are gonna work like crazy here this transfer and make it the best area in the mission. 

So the mission has just been a series of heart break sometimes haha first it bye to the family in the airport then bye to all my friends from the mtc and now i had to say goodbye to another comp and another area. i figured out i liked cruz del eje a lot more than i thought not necesarily the city but the people i had to say goodbye to all the families i had just spent 4 months building relationships with so that was super hard for me i felt so attached to them like saying goodbye to my family and friends all over again. so super hard to leave an area sometimes and not looking foreward to doing it again.

but now im with elder johnson he is from colorado and has been out for 8 months so we are both pretty new which is a huge change for me im used to only having the oldies but im pumped for a youngin with some fire for this area. 

So yeah thats kinda it for this week a little more about this area we have church in a little house in a neighborhood haha and have like 8 active members jsut letting you guys know so i can show you how much progress it will have when we are done here in rio segundo

Carnival 3/19/2019

hey everybody whats going on another week down in the gran mac of the mission life hope you all had the best week.

So to start off we are now in the month of carnival and if you have ever seen the movie rio thats what carnival is just a huge celebration haha. so this means basically throwing paint mud flour eggs and other liquids at everyone haha so we got into one of these fights with a family it was awesome and so fun haha dont have any pics sadly but it was awesome but now laundry is the shaft.

We have found a couple new investigators these week so that was super good for us and now have a little bit new things to work with so super pumped to get working more and more.

i got to do intercambios in cosquin again with the zone leaders and that was awesome i love it there its super super pretty and cold haha the best part. but it was cool to work with other elders and get different advice and learn new ways to teach. oh and also speak a little english haha every once in a while.

not to much else has happened here in good old cruz del eje i have become known as the gringo who plays ukulele and cooks banana bread and fried chicken here haha dont know if that is a good thing but i guess i can say i left my mark here. transfers are this tuesday so we will have to see if i get moved or not.

Invierno por fin 3/12/2019

So this week i got  my first little taste of winter in about 9 months and it was glorious haha i miss the cold so much and im super done with the heat. haha so i took big advantage of the cold i made me some hot chocolate with powdered milk almost every morning and got to wear a sweater to work in i loved it. sadly it was short lived right now its 98 degrees outside and im back in shorts and a t shirt haha.

So this week was pretty good we started working in a new neighborhood and found some awesome new people so im excited to get working with them this coming week. but i guess this neighborhood has been known to kick out the missionaries quite often so we will see how that turns out and if they are a little bit hard to get to we can just run fast to the house of our investigators and they will protect us hahaha.

I got to travel into cordoba again this week and for those who dont know i was called to serve in cordoba argentina but my mission includes three different states corodba catamarca and la rioja right now im on the very edge of la rioja and cordoba but all the cool stuff is in cordoba capital so this past week i got to travel there for our conference. so that was awesome the city there is super cool and is filled with giant catholic cathedrals which are super cool even though its apostasia.

We have been working a lot more with the ward this week and that has been great i love it more when i feel like we are a team so that has been super cool really started to form some solid relationships right as im about to leave haha.

This week i finished the book of mormon again and i want to share my testimony of this amazing book i love the way elder holland describes this book it has been torn apart by every society and yet still stands today and is the most true book in religous history and that not wicked man could wright such a thing and no good man would do it unless he was commanded by god to do so. i love this scripture that we have and is such a blessing to me in every page this time reading i followed an example from my brother and marked every word that refered to god or jesus christ it was amazing on every page there are 6-31 times that it mentions these names and we get the chance to read this book that testifies, teaches, and preaches of our savior and heavenly father there are so many verses that have the wisdom of a life time in them, and this book is the words of prophets that actually lived. i love when god speaks in the scriptures or there is a story about the spirit because even though this was forever ago we have the same god savior and spirit at our side to help us with everything. i have put myself to the challenge of elder bednar ro read the book of mormon all my life and look for something new each time and by the end i should have a bookshelf of books of mormon or book of mormons haha. so if any of you see me not doing this when i get home smack me back into shape porfa. I love  this book with all my heart and have a strong testimony of all that it teaches and encourage each one of you to keep, or start reading today. 

Challenge. This week is secret santa yeah i know that its march haha but i want you guys to do a secret act of service this week and try to not let the person know it was you. it can be anything something small or big its amazing how much joy this brings to you and the person that you perfom it for. like it says in moroni chapter 8 without charity it mattereth not i studied that a ton this week and learned that i need to stop wasting time and have charity today because if not then nothing else matters.

5 Months 3/5/2019

Whats up family and friends so this week marks my 5 months in the mish so super nuts for me im a month away from being 1/4 done with my mish so wierd how time works here days feel like weeks and then weeks feel like day haha super wierd.

so this week was not the greatest on the mish it started of with yohana our stud investigator she told us in our last appointment that she wanted nothing more to do with the church. i was stunned and had no idea what to say she was progressing so well and i really felt like she had a testimony but then she tried to give me back her book of mormon and i looked at the book and it had tabs on almost every page and the verses looked marked better than my book it was heartbreaking. i told her to keep her book and just keep god in her life she said ok and then we left. so that sucked super hard and i kept thinking it was my fault like i had done something wrong like i hadnt taught well enough or i should have shown more love for her. but after studying all week about this i remebered that we all have our agency and that is part of our purpose here is to choose for ourselves as missionaries we cant force anyone to accept the gospel no matter how bad we want it for them. then i could only imagine how our heavenly father feels when we choose wrong but he aswell knew how important agency is, and he gave it to us for a reason so that we can be better and choose the gospel for the right reasons.

So in other exciting news we got robbed haha yep that sucked but people keep saying i was lucky to make it this long in the mish. haha yeah i lost some money and a hard drive but that was it but kinda shafty haha.

me and nuñez have been together for 3 weeks now which is super wierd feels like i just barely recieved him but its been super good to learn the different ways other missionaries work and being able to take their advice to get better.

now for the challenge of this week. ok so i hope you guys took the music challenge on and i hope it blessed your guys life like it has for me. this week the challenge is to look and pray for something in your life that you are not doing and should be doing and start doing it haha this is a big thing for me and i always have the feeling that i have forgotten something when im not doing something i should be but there are always more blessings in obedience no matter how hard it may seem.
