Still kicking it 1/29/2019

hola family and friends so this weeks email will be pretty brief and quick not too much happened this week.

 

So the week started off with me getting surgery on my toe haha that sucked a fat bit so we walked into this super sketch hospital and got an appointment with the foot doctor he came in and looked at it and said yep we are gonna have to cut it off haha i freaked out but he was just kidding and said we will have to cut out a part so he said come back tomorrow and we can get it done. 

      so the next day we are getting ready to go when we find out the hospital doesnt take the churches insurance so we spent the rest of the morning scrambling to find enough money to pay for it and i had to end up exhcanging american dollars for pesos so that was a little sketchy but we finally made it to the hospital and the doctor was an hour late just cause thats how time works here in argentina. so by now im getting pretty nervous and my stomach is sloshing a good bit. but he brought us in and sat me down on the bench and just said we are just gonna do it in here so its a little bit less work haha so now im even more worried that this doctor in jeans is about to cut my toe off in a check up room but hey lets go. so he first started by inserting the anestisia by poking the bed of my nail and pushing forward this shot hurt more than any other shot ive ever gotten and to make it worse he wasnt paying attention and the needle popped out so he had to start over haha the adventures of argentina. so at this point im quite confident i will throw up at some point.

   next i watch him grab and exacto knife and scissors and just start chopping away at my toe thank goodness i couldnt feel anything and within 15 minutes he was done. then proceeded and asked if i wanted to touch the chunk of flesh and nail he just cut off and thats when i pretty much just fell and layed on the table feeling super sick while he bandaged it all up. then we walked home and now ive just been chilling in our apartment the past week. he also only sent us home with 2 ibeprofen so i had to take a couple pills that i had brought cause the pain wouldnt go away but feeling better now and i just have to stay off of it for like 5 more days and i can start working.

     super bad timing cause this is the end of the transfer and so my comp will leave in a week and a get a new one so we couldnt really work his last week so that sucked but all good all good.

so thats pretty much it this week haha hope you enjoyed the story im doing tons better now and cant wait to get working again love you all and miss you tons

Kind of a shafty week 1/22/2019

So this week hit me like a brick a little bit so first off we were preparing everything fo the baptism of yoanna we got permission signed from the mom we shoveled mud out of our bapt font forever announced it in church and printed out her bapt pamphlets. then this sunday she didnt come to church so we were like that is weird so that afternoon we headed to her house and her dad said no she cant be baptiszed this is too soon and i want her to wait till she is 18 this pretty much just broke my heart hard so i was a little down this week i know she will get baptized in the future i just want her and her family to get the blessing now but im not sure maybe our heavenly father has a different plan that will work out even better. so after that we found out that i got an ingrown toenail from walking so much and it also got infected so i have to head in to the doctor tomorrow to see if i need surgery or just cut the nail off so yeah haha kind of a lot of crap this week but still tons of good.

so one of our old investigators who cant walk to well moved close to the church so now she can start going to church again so thats awesome. i got to do exchanges again this week with the zone leaders and their area is freaking awesome so that was good to get a break from my area for a while. also we found a store that serves cheeseburgers that are kinda like the states haha so that was delicious.

i have 3 more weeks of training left which is insane for me then i get a new comp. i have been taking the lead this week in all the challenges and lessons and i actually surprised myslef with how well i was able to speak so im super pumped about that finally getting the language down. 

my tan lines are getting worse and worse as the days go by haha only my arms up to my elbow my face, and neck are tan haha everything else is white so im gonna be looking pretty funky when i get back.

love you all sorry not to much to report this week but thanks for all the support this week i heard a ton of my investigators keep saying why does god permit bad things to happen and i thought about that a ton this week and my favorite advice ive heard is to take trials as a blessing. trials suck a fat ton and they can be so hard sometimes but they are all to change us to the tool we need to be for our heavenly father and he has a plan for us if we can just trust that plan everything is better. true happines is only in the gospel everything else is too short lived to jeporidize our eternal happiness i really had to swallow that this week haha i was super upset about yoana but sometimes thats life and we just gotta take it will a smile. a quote from elder holland that i love it when we are rejected, spit upon, and yelled at we are only walking beside our loving savior redeemer and brother and elder holland says to smile at this so i tried that alot this week just looking to my side door slam after door slam and just smiled i couldnt see anyone there but i felt his love and i know that he is always there for us in everything i love my savior and this wonderfull opportunity i have to serve him and gain a testimony of his gospel and atonement.

kicking Butt 1/15/2019

ahhhhhhhhhh hows everyone doing???? sorry super excited the mission is just the best so im gonna get the bad stuff out of the way first so i can talk about the good stuff so i accidentlily stepped on a piece of glass while walking that went through my shoe into my foot so that sucked i got a pretty good cut and my shoe now has a hole and walking was kinda the shaft but getting better. 

ok sweet onto the goodness now so at the beginning of the week we had our conference in cordoba capitl so we had to travel 4 hours for that but it was awesome i got to meet a ton more of the missionaries here and get some advice from our president so that was way fun.

we have started to play soccer here like crazy we just go to a turf field because they are everywhere and start playing and pretty soon there is like fourty people playing then we just teach them after and invite them to church i love doing this haha its so fun but im getting schooled out here seriously argentines are so good at soccer the only thing i have on them is speed haha so that helps out a little but its super fun and we have had a ton more people show up to church now.

YOANA

alright so this girl is a stud she is 15 and she was my first succesful contact on the mission and the first thing she said was hey i dont believe in god haha but thats ok cause now she does she is now getting baptized this coming week and she has brought a couple friends to church so she is already a missionary such a stud. but yeah so super exciting with her.

the lord helped out a lot this week we had so many people put into our path to teach and it was awesome one girl we ran into named carina looked at us after we shared a quick thing about joseph smith and she smiled and said hmm there is something different about you guys what time is church im coming!! haha so awesome people are so amazing and our heavenly father helps us out so much.

thats pretty much all this week i finish up my training in three weeks and get a new comp so that will be really wierd to not have a trainer helping me but im also super excited my spanish is starting to come along pretty well so stoked about that love you all and i hope you have the best week

ahhh I love the Gospel 1/8/2019

my amazing family and friends how is everybody i hope you all had the best week with family and all of the holidays i have officially made it to 3 months woooooo.

so this week started out super sucky i was still feeling a little sick but i was pretty done with not working so we went out working in the morning and i threw up twice so kinda stupid of myslef and not giving myself time to heal so we went back to the pension to just chill in the heat cause i was still sick obviously. i started to get super frustrated cause i knew we needed to get to our investigators i started to get super stressed about them and worried to the point i would start having dreams about them wanting the gospel and nobody to teach it to them haha and i woke up sweating and super stressed so after that i prayed to heavenly father asking just please give us a way to visit the people here and at least get some work done and asked that i could feel good enough to work. miracle time.... so woke up feeling amazing to a man knocking on the door saying he was there to put in ac in our apartment. holy flip i was so happy aparently a member in the ward got someone to come over haha i almost started to cry when i felt cold air so awesome we have cold air now we can sleep at least. then we went to work again and i havent felt sick since so huge blessing thanks so much for all the prayers.

   we got a couple new elders in my district this week and they are sick one is from peru and the other from brazil so crazy to see how different spanish is in different countries but this week we spent p day in capilla del monte which is the alien town its super chill and pretty.

so this week for church we had a family of investigators that had come to church once but not again for a really long time so this sunday we decided to wake up early and go pick them up at their house this meant we had to walk six miles in suits and heat haha so kinda the shaft but we got to their house and the custom here to knock on the door is just to stand outside the gate of their house and clap until they come to the door so we did this for 10 minutes with no reply and then my comp said well next time lets go and i just looked at him like he was insane and i was like are you kidding we walked all this way we are getting them to church. so i proceeded to do something questionable i opened the gate and walked up to the door and knocked. This can be incredibly offensive to people here so i was quite scared especially since my comp stayed in the street haha but after knocking for 10 more minutes the husband came to the door laughing his head off saying you mormons are insane but at least you care about our salvation but then said they were all sick and couldnt come to church. so we walked back to go to church super disapointed and i was just wondering why this was happening i though we did everything we could do so as we walked into the chapel soaking wet from sweat we saw one of our investigators who was 15 years old and she had walked 3 miles not knowing where the church was and some how found it. how awesome is that. so we sat with her in church and she loved it and she has plans now to get baptized soon soo we got our blessing just in a different way than we though ahh it was so cool the lord always recognizes our efforts and blesses us 10 fold.

Happy New Year 1/1/2019

whats up family and friends i hope christmas and new years was awesome for all of you guys.

    so this week i got sick from the water again and was out for like 5 days throwing up so that kinda stunk mainly just because it messes with all of our appointments for the week and its harder to help people progress. but im feeling mostly better now so this week is back into the grind. 

       CROCS

      something i havent talked about yet but all of argentina wears crocs i kid you not. its insane kids adult grandparents missionaries doctors all of them. so yeah thats something a little interesting and different about argentina haha

the heat here is still hot getting hotter i have to wash my clothes like two times a week now because i sweat through two pairs of clothing every day haha so thats getting a little tedious now. and all of my area has just decided that clothes are not a thing now that its summer me and my comp have to really watch out because there are just half or full nude people everywhere so most of the time we just stare at the dirt or the dogs haha.

      so for new years this year me and my comp had another asado so that was the bomb i have officially put on 15 pounds and it was probably straight meat. i made it through my first transfer in the field and it flew by so feeling good then in another six weeks i will get a new comp. its been really hard to work lately argentines are typically really laid back and kinda lazy but when holidays come around holy cow its nuts they are out buying all the coke and beer in the world and getting ready for parties all week long so we barely got into anyones home this week kinda discouraging.

    after walking all day in the heat and having absolute no success at anything we tried we decided to walk towards a little store that sold water to get a drink and we walk in and the owner of the store screams and smiles and then proceeds to quote a scripture from nephi haha it was awesome he was super cool hes never been taught or been to our church but somehow had a book of mormon and he loved it. he gave us two free ice cream bars and said to come back to teach him i love those little moments it always happens when i get close to breaking for the day and i just want to sit down and rest and then we find somebody heavenly father had prepared just for us and i love that feeling and my love for the people and my heavenly father grows so much every time.
